Srinagar, Oct 06 (KNO): A delegation of the Kashmir Jurists Bar Association (KJBA) on Tuesday met Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice Dr. Pushpendra Singh Bhatia, and discussed issues concerning advocates’ welfare, speedy disposal of cases and timely delivery of justice.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the delegation called upon Justice Bhatia and extended a warm welcome and best wishes on his assumption of office.
The spokesperson said the delegation was headed by Adv. Altaf Ganderbali, President, KJBA, and accompanied by Adv. Tajamul Choudhary, Chief Coordinator, KJBA, along with Sr. Adv. Ahmad Javid, Sr. Adv. Ehsan-ul-Haq, Adv. Hilal Noorani, Adv. Sibgat Tabasum, Adv. S.M. Saleem, Adv. Waseem Ramzan Lone, Adv. Saima, Adv. Nighat, Adv. Shagufta, Adv. Hamid, Adv. Ishtiyaq, Adv. Mohd. Shahnawaz and other members of the Bar.
He said the delegation discussed matters concerning the welfare and professional interests of advocates, strengthening the justice-delivery system, and the need for speedy disposal of cases and timely delivery of justice.
The spokesperson said the delegation expressed hope that under the leadership of the Chief Justice, the High Court and subordinate judiciary would continue to work towards ensuring efficient, accessible and timely justice, while also addressing genuine concerns relating to the welfare and working conditions of members of the Bar.
He said the KJBA assured the Chief Justice of its continued cooperation and constructive support in further strengthening the rule of law, judicial administration and the legal fraternity—(KNO)
